# Instinct vs Agentastic: Personal Errands and Mac Tasks

> What Instinct’s official pages establish, what remains unknown, and how to compare it with Agentastic without assuming feature parity.

Instinct is the personal assistant at **instinct.com**. Its appeal is straightforward: ask for an errand through text or a call. Agentastic is worth considering when the job starts with your Mac’s files, selected text or apps, and you want to build a repeatable workflow around that context.

**Checked October 23, 2026.** We reviewed public official pages, not a signed-in account. This is not a hands-on review.

## What is verified, and what is unknown?

| Question | Instinct | Agentastic |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What is the starting interaction? | Text or call the assistant | Open the Mac launcher with a request and chosen context |
| What kinds of work are described? | Everyday errands, using a phone and computer | Multi-step tasks through enabled tools |
| Can we quote a current subscription price? | Not established by the public pages reviewed | See [plans](https://www.agentastic.com/pricing) and model/provider costs |
| Is there a documented execution location? | Local versus cloud details not established here | Mac tools execute locally. Hosted sessions are separate |
| What should be checked during setup? | Eligibility, enabled services, action controls and limits | Tool permissions, model setup and context |

Instinct’s [homepage](https://instinct.com/) describes its interaction and errands. It links to the official app, but it does not establish universal access, supported countries, plan quotas or a detailed approval matrix. A background cadence, saved-schedule controls and detailed memory-management interface also remain unverified here. The word “unknown” in this comparison means unverified, not absent. Agentastic’s workflow is described in [first task](https://www.agentastic.com/docs/get-started/first-task) and [context](https://www.agentastic.com/docs/launcher/context).

## What its privacy policy adds

Instinct’s [privacy policy](https://instinct.com/privacy-policy), revised August 26, 2026, describes connected service data and personalization from interactions. It distinguishes general model-training choices from Google Workspace data, which it says is not used to train models. It also distinguishes disconnecting an integration from deleting previously collected information.

Those distinctions deserve attention during setup. They do not establish a complete memory editor or an export format. Nor does describing an ability in a policy prove that every user can access it today. Verify the settings offered to your account rather than importing claims from unofficial directories.

For Agentastic, the [memory guide](https://www.agentastic.com/docs/advanced/memory-channels) documents editable Markdown files, project context and separate controls for remembered activity. Hosted model requests may include selected context. A file stored on your Mac does not imply that inference stays on your device.

## A useful trial: arranging a service appointment

Ask for a shortlist first: three providers, service area, available dates, quoted cost and cancellation conditions. Give the assistant a maximum budget and specify that contacting providers or making a booking requires review.

Keep a distinction between finding a provider and committing to an appointment. A provider’s website may omit a callout fee. A calendar opening does not establish availability at your address. A useful result should flag these missing facts before you approve the next step.

These are suggested evaluation criteria for either product. We have not measured how Instinct handles them.

## Where Agentastic fits the same problem

If you already have quotes in Mail or saved PDFs, use those as the starting context for a Mac task. Ask Agentastic to create a comparison with source references and unresolved questions. Review it in the conversation before delegating any follow-up.

You can save standing preferences in [Memory](https://www.agentastic.com/docs/advanced/memory-channels), such as preferred appointment hours. Keep temporary facts, such as a provider’s quote, attached to a current document. If you schedule a later check, the [local scheduler](https://www.agentastic.com/docs/advanced/task-scheduler) needs the daemon running.

This approach is most useful when your documents and local apps are the centre of the job. If you mainly want to delegate errands by text or call, Instinct’s official interaction model may be a better fit. Confirm current access and controls in its official flow before relying on it.
