Installation

Installing Agentastic on macOS is quick and straightforward. This guide will walk you through the download, installation, and initial permission setup.

Download Agentastic

1. Visit agentastic.com/download
2. Click "Download for macOS" to get the latest version
3. The download will start automatically (approximately 50MB)

Install the Application

1. Open your Downloads folder
2. Double-click Agentastic.dmg
3. Drag the Agentastic icon to your Applications folder
4. Eject the disk image

First Launch

1. Open Agentastic from your Applications folder
2. If you see a security warning, click "Open" to proceed
3. Agentastic will launch and guide you through initial setup

Required Permissions

Agentastic needs certain permissions to function properly. You'll be prompted to grant these during setup:

Accessibility Permission (Required)

This allows Agentastic to:

• Detect your typed triggers
• Expand text in any application
• Provide global keyboard shortcuts

To enable:

1. Click "Grant Permission" when prompted
2. System Settings will open to Privacy & Security > Accessibility
3. Toggle ON the switch next to Agentastic
4. Close System Settings

Screen Recording Permission (Recommended)

This enables AI features to:

• Capture context from your screen
• Provide intelligent suggestions
• Use the @screen command for visual assistance

To enable:

1. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording
2. Toggle ON the switch next to Agentastic
3. Restart Agentastic if prompted

Additional Permissions (Optional)

Depending on which features you use, you may need:

• Files and Folders - For @files command
• Calendar - For @calendar integration
• Contacts - For email and message features

Verify Installation

To confirm everything is working:

1. Open any text application (TextEdit, Notes, etc.)
2. Type atest and press space
3. You should see it expand to "Agentastic is working!"

If the test expansion doesn't work:

• Check that Accessibility permission is enabled
• Restart Agentastic

Initial Configuration

After installation, Agentastic will:

1. Create a default configuration file
2. Set up the menu bar icon
3. Enable basic text expansions
4. Configure the launcher shortcut (⌘+Space by default)

Troubleshooting Installation

"Agentastic can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"

1. Right-click the Agentastic app
2. Select "Open" from the context menu
3. Click "Open" in the dialog

Permissions not working

1. Quit Agentastic completely
2. Remove Agentastic from the permission list
3. Re-add it and ensure the toggle is ON
4. Restart your Mac if needed

Menu bar icon not appearing

1. Check if Agentastic is running (look in Activity Monitor)
2. Try launching from Applications folder again
3. Check if you have space in your menu bar
