Agentastic Apps are pre-packaged AI workflows that bundle prompts, tools, and specialized capabilities into ready-to-use experiences. Instead of crafting complex prompts from scratch, apps give you instant access to powerful AI-driven features with a single command.

What Are Apps?

Apps go beyond simple text expansion by combining:

• Specialized prompts tailored for specific tasks
• Tool access for capabilities like web search, file operations, or image generation
• Multi-step workflows that coordinate complex operations automatically
• Custom UI elements like interactive canvases for visual output

Think of apps as AI-powered mini-applications that live inside Agentastic.

Discovering Apps

There are four ways to access Agentastic Apps:

1. Agentastic Menu

Click the Agentastic icon in your menu bar to see available apps. This provides quick access to your installed apps without opening the launcher.

2. /app: Dropdown in Launcher

Type /app: in the launcher input field to reveal an interactive app selector:

/app:

Using the App Selector:

• Search - Type to filter apps by name or description
• Navigate - Use ↑ and ↓ arrow keys to move through the list
• Select - Press Enter to activate the highlighted app
• Cancel - Press Escape to close the selector

The selector shows each app's name, description, version, and file count.

3. Text Expansion Syntax

Use the [ /app:name prompt ] syntax anywhere text expansion works:

[ /app:dictation ]
[ /app:slide Create a presentation about climate change ]

This is perfect for:

• Triggering apps from any application
• Including apps in your custom expansions
• Automating app launches with additional context

4. Special Dictation Hotkey

Press the fn key anywhere on your Mac to instantly activate the Dictation app. This system-wide hotkey provides the fastest way to start voice transcription without opening the launcher.

Available Apps

Dictation

Command: /app:dictation or press fn

Pure voice-to-text transcription that turns your speech into perfectly formatted text.

Features:

• Push-to-Talk - Hold to record, release to transcribe
• System-wide Access - Works from any application via fn key
• Multiple Models - Choose from fast or accurate transcription models
• Custom Shortcuts - Configure your preferred activation key

Slide

Command: /app:slide <your presentation request>

AI-powered presentation generation that creates professional slides from natural language descriptions.

Features:

• Research Phase - Gathers information on your topic via web search
• Outline Generation - Creates logical slide structure
• Content Creation - Writes compelling text for each slide
• Visual Design - Applies professional themes and layouts
• Image Integration - Adds relevant images (AI-generated or sourced)
• Interactive Preview - Navigate slides in the launcher
• PowerPoint Export - Download as PPTX file

Slide Types Supported:

Workflow:

1. Type /app:slide followed by your presentation request
2. AI researches your topic and creates an outline
3. Content is generated slide-by-slide
4. Images are sourced or generated
5. Interactive preview appears in launcher
6. Navigate with Previous/Next buttons
7. Export to PowerPoint when satisfied

Configuring Apps

Manage your apps in the Settings application:

1. Open Settings (click gear icon in launcher or press ⌘+,)
2. Navigate to the Apps page
3. View all installed apps with their status

On the Apps Page You Can:

• Toggle apps on/off - Enable or disable individual apps
• Configure settings - Adjust app-specific options
• View permissions - See what system access each app requires
• Check app status - Verify apps are properly configured

Dictation Settings:

• Default transcription model
• Keyboard shortcut assignment
• Microphone permission status

Slide Settings:

• Default presentation theme
• Image generation preferences
