Gateway

The Gateway connects your Agentastic agent to messaging platforms, so you can reach it from your phone, a group chat, or your inbox — not just the launcher on your Mac. Message the agent, and it replies with the same capabilities it has on your desktop.

What you can connect

Set up channels in Settings → Gateway:

  • Slack
  • Discord
  • WhatsApp
  • Telegram
  • iMessage (via a hosted shared number)
  • Email (via AgentMail)

See Connecting Platforms for the per-platform setup.

How it behaves

Once a channel is connected:

  • In direct messages, the agent responds to your messages.
  • In group chats / channels, the agent responds when it's @mentioned (by default), so it stays quiet otherwise.
  • Replies stream back into the same conversation, and the agent can use its tools and skills to actually get things done.

Because the agent can take actions, the Gateway includes controls over who can talk to it and what it's allowed to do per channel. See Channel Security.

Where it runs

The Gateway is part of the background service on your Mac, which keeps your channels connected and routes incoming messages to the agent. For iMessage, Agentastic provides a hosted shared number so you don't need your own messaging infrastructure.
