Connect the providers you want to use in Settings → Models and Providers. You can mix and match — for example, use your Claude subscription for Claude models and the Agentastic provider for everything else.
The Agentastic provider
The built-in Agentastic provider is included with your plan and needs no setup. It's the fastest way to start and gives you access to a broad catalog of models. If you only want to use Agentastic, you're already done.
Connect Anthropic
Run Claude models directly through your own Anthropic account. Two options:
- API key — paste an Anthropic key (
sk-ant-…) into the API key tab and click Save. - Claude subscription — on the Claude subscription tab, sign in with your Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise account. Agentastic opens your browser to authorize, then connects automatically.
Once connected, the card shows Connected with API key or Connected via Claude subscription.
Connect OpenAI
Run GPT models through your own OpenAI account:
- API key — paste an OpenAI key (
sk-…) into the API key tab and click Save. - ChatGPT subscription — on the ChatGPT subscription tab, sign in with your ChatGPT Plus or Pro account via OAuth.
Test the connection
After saving credentials, click Test. Agentastic makes a real request and reports:
- ✅ Connection verified — you're good to go.
- ❌ Connection failed — the error message explains what's wrong (bad key, expired session, network).
Enable and disable providers
Use the toggle on each provider to enable or disable it. A few things to know:
- You can't enable a provider without valid credentials.
- The available models in the launcher update after the background assistant restarts — give it a moment after changing providers.
- Disabling a provider hides its models but keeps your saved credentials.
Set default models
When a provider publishes recommended defaults, a Use as default button appears — one click points the per-role defaults (chat, agent, vision, …) at that provider's models. You can always fine-tune individual roles afterward. See Models & Providers overview for what each role does.
Removing credentials
To disconnect, open the provider and remove the API key or sign out of the subscription. Its models disappear from the launcher after the next restart.
